Zhenyuan Lu
Hi there! I am a deep learning engineer at Seurat and AI/ML researcher. I earned my PhD and was a data science instructor at Northeastern University. My PhD journey is showcased on the University PhD Network. The College of Engineering released a spotlight for a Student Success Story.
Check out my Python tutorial: Python Notebook from Zero to Advanced or get visual with my R tutorial on Data Visualization/Transformation Tutorial in R. Don’t miss my guide on Data Visualization Data Viz in a Nutshell. When I am not at work, you will find me behind the lens in my very own photography studio, snapping everything from sassy portraits to whimsical whatever.

What is a Good Graduate Program?
I received numerous emails from my students asking about what constitutes a good graduate program. I’d like to share with you some insightful words from Dr. Yiqing Xu of Stanford University (I translated it into English):
- “The criteria for evaluating a good graduate program is how much time is spent on the continuous accumulation of knowledge and skills (during which the learning curve can be linear or even exponential) and how much time is spent on simple repetitive tasks that do not lead to the improvement of knowledge and skills.”
